"When you die, you inherit the Multiverse."
Sounds a bit like Multivitamin but outside of the bottle.
on another thread concernedjw used an interesting quote from jesus at matt 5:5 'the meek shall inherit the earth.
' fair comment i'd say.
but jesus didn't say 'paradise' earth.. now i know some of you don't believe in the bible (which i respect), and i'm not after a debate.. what i'm interested to hear is how you would refyte that jesus was not talking about a jw 'paradise earth'.

Christians tolerate atheists in the public square, but Christians are generally discriminated against and silenced
Christians were only silenced in the Roman arena.
Since then they have become very vocal and irritating but I love them all - it is what Zeus demands!

I would question that they are Christians if they deny that the Bible is the Word of God. Nominal, liberal, pseudo-Christians should not be confused with the real thing. Evangelicals have a high view of Scripture. If it is not the Word of God, we have no basis for Christianity. Do these so-called christians also deny the Deity and resurrection of Christ? If so, they are definitely not Christians.
Many atheists and agnostics have also made the same observation. There have been many debates on this forum about this matter.
What confuses many who examine Christianity is the way some Christians believe the bible to be the foundation of Christianity and others don’t. It makes more sense to me to see the bible as a collection of ideas written by man. Christianity based solely on faith in an invisible Jesus is much harder to pull apart.
Until there is agreement on this matter, the Christian message will be lost on most people.
i'm having trouble getting behind the idea of making rich people pay more taxes just because they have more.. aside from the obvious: "i'm not rich so lets tax them instead of me.
" the three reasons i hear most often are:.
1: they may have "earned" their wealth but they don't deserve it!.
Perhaps I didn't make my point clearly. The rich should pay more tax but at the same rate as anyone else. If someone earns $50,000 a year and someone else earns $500,000 the higher earner will pay 10 times more tax. Why increase the tax rate in addition?

In my humble opinion - rich people should pay the same rate of tax as everybody else. The government acts as if it owns peoples income and gives back enough for them to live on. The money belongs to those that earn it. The rich also spend more and so incur more tax.
Plundering peoples earnings to compensate for the greed and corruption in politics and banking is theft. Most taxes come from ordinary working people because there are so many of them. If this tax raid goes on people will be no better off than communists, making people work for nothing while paying their utility bills and giving them pocket money.
i'm sort of angry right now.. no, not angry..... i'm shaky.
at least, when i lift my cup of coffee to my lips, sitting here at starbucks, my hand is trembly.. i hate that!.
the power they have to still reach me on some hidden point that hides in the corners of my very being.... .
I was moved by your post Terry. You handled yourself very well and kept their attention long enough to make some very poignant remarks.
You have so many emotions bound up with circumstances which the Watchtower Society is culpable for. When confronted with their representatives, it is understandable that you would have a mild cathartic reaction. Painful as the incident was, it has helped you to release some of that suppressed pain and anger and given you a chance to validate yourself.
Like so many people on this forum I understand because I have been there – and back. We move on but we can never forget. However objective we try to be, we are our life’s experience.

Glad: I would question that they are Christians if they deny that the Bible is the Word of God.
The great thing about atheists is that they agree there is no god. Whereas Christians cannot agree on anything.
Given that they are supposed to be united by holy spirit, in most peoples mind that amounts to a fail.

Most of the Christians that I talk to no longer believe the bible to be the word of god - with exception of Godrulz of course.
Bearing this in mind, we have no evidence that the sandal clad, fish loving, carpenter from Nazareth was anything other than a Jewish rebel. Without acceptance of the bible as the inerrant word of god there is no reason to believe that Jesus rose in the morning let alone from the dead.
May your gods go with you…
some people feel they need a religion, and need to attend a church.
if such a person starts questioning the watchtower and they asked you "where else to go?
", what would you recommend?.
People do not choose to believe or not believe in a god. We arrive at conclusions due to a number of factors and influences. Our education will play a part in how we assimilate the information and experiences that we are conscious of.
If someone is unable to accept Bible based religions they should examine Eastern spirituality. I have friends who have found peace and comfort in them.
To me freedom from the religious slavery of following Jesus, or any invisible being who will decide my fate, is worth any price. But if someone is happy in their religion they should stay, even if they are JWs.
